Strawbale Construction - Avoiding Air Leaks with Plaster Stops

When we're preparing a straw bale wall for plastering, we often run into a situation where the wall is interrupted by an interior wall or a post.

If we simply plaster up to the interior wall or post, the natural properties of the plaster will typically cause the plaster to pull back from this location while drying. This can leave an open passage for air to carry moisture directly into the bale wall.

Watch this quick strawbale construction video where Timbo explains a technique to seal up that gap and provide an anchor point for your wire mesh all in one!
