French Lane Straw Bale

Plan Number: at-400

Designed by: Arkin-Tilt Architects

This unique home has a decidedly Japanese look and feel to it, including a zen garden featuring a round opening at its entry porch, and an ofuru tub in the master bedroom suite. These details balance well with the overall look and feel of this beautiful passive solar home.

The French Lane Straw Bale is 1905 sf with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms plus and office and a bonus loft space over a tea room adjacent to the living room. The combination of plaster and wood give this home a comfortable and unique feel.

The design was for a site that slopes toward the southwest and features a garage / studio space below; however,  the home could be built on a flattish site if the garage and studio spaces were removed.
